Ephesians 2:10 NIV reads, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

This verse is a powerful reminder of our purpose as Christians. We are not just saved by grace through faith, but we are also created for a purpose. We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.

The word “handiwork” here refers to a work of art or a masterpiece. We are God’s masterpiece, created in His image and likeness. And just like any work of art, we have a purpose and a function. Our purpose is to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do.

This means that before we were even born, God had a plan for our lives. He knew the good works that He wanted us to do and He created us with the abilities and talents to fulfill that purpose. Our job is to discover what those good works are and to do them to the best of our ability.

But how do we discover what those good works are? The answer is simple: by following Christ. As we grow in our relationship with Him, He will reveal His plan for our lives. He will guide us and direct us towards the good works that He has prepared for us. Every time you have been giving your time, energy, money or even praying; you have been doing good. That is what you were created for. It shall be such works that will cause Jesus to tap your back and say “Well-done. Faithful servant”

In conclusion, Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are not just saved by grace, but we are also created for a purpose. We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Let us strive to discover what those good works are and to do them to the best of our ability, all for the glory of God.
